If only it were possible to downsize my computer needs like I've done with so many other things. It makes no sense that laptops are such expensive and complex machines. All I really need is a dummy terminal, an internet appliance.

Still, my laptop problems are interesting in a perverse sort of way. I've had to relearn the skills and daily rituals of Neolithic Man. For instance, I found myself reading a newspaper at McDonald's. I was shocked how small it was. It was only half the width of the newspapers that people read in old black and white movies of the thirties and fourties.

I've even had to relearn the skill of writing with pen and paper. I don't like it. Typing is far easier.

Perhaps this accidental fast from the internet is good for my soul, somehow. Oh...who am I kidding.
