Gunnison, CO, still without a laptop. Normally I am too practical to entertain silly fantasies of a smaller rig with much better gas mileage. But it's hard to stay sensible when I see a new type of trailer, aimed at outdoorsmen. Perhaps you've seen them: they are single-axle trailers that can be pulled with a car. I believe they are a small pop-up trailer, combined with storage boxes and attachments points for your toys. It's the light-weight and high clearance that turns me on.

Maybe I should go back to notebook/laptop fantasies, instead. For years it has driven me crazy to see 90% of my RV's electrical budget go to a laptop computer. That is why, relatively late in life, I am experiencing laptop-lust for the first time!

I want one of these mini-notebooks based on Intel's Atom microprocessor. The best known one is the Asus Eee PC, but there is also the MSI Wind, the Acer Aspire One, and one by HP. They are almost available, and it is driving me crazy.

On a separate note, I had another close call crossing the street today. Ironic isn't it. Colorado made the news recently as the least obese state. It's easy to believe. Every other person has running, hiking, or bicycle shorts on.

But when you start to count on people yielding to pedestrians...that's when it gets dangerous.
