How many years does it take for a full time RVer to finish downsizing?  The current spat of downsizing was therapy more than utility: it distracted me from evil thoughts about the big rebates being offered by GM these days. I've had the same tow vehicle for eleven years of full time RVing, a full size cargo van. Their fuel economy is poor and they've gotten pricey, so I will replace it with a pickup truck where more models and choices are available.

But, my, how nice it has been to have this big box on wheels. It is the perfect bicycle "garage." No windows. Of course you can't pull a 10,000 pound trailer with it. Having this van was a benefit of having a trailer that weighs only 3400 pounds, loaded. If I carry this to the next step what will the benefits be?

I  took everything out of the cargo van and piled it in a giant heap. It is so pleasurable to work on an RV when you can kick everything out on the ground. Then I rearranged things in the van to take up less space. When I do eventually buy a pickup truck I will be "ready."

What kept driving me along on this project was the image of all that junk mounded high and the fantasy of pouring $4/gallon gasoline on it and lighting the match. It became a Bonfire of the RV Vanities, with tongues of flame reaching the tops of Fourteeners...a great and horrifying conflagration of purification.
