Re: A Trip to the Greengrocer

Food mythology fascinates me. For example, for years, the school food ladies emphasized that they were serving a hot lunch to the kiddies, as if hot were a vital member of the RDA. And at the local farmers' market, I often freak out the veggie purveyors by explaining that I want local and don't give a damn if it's Certified Organic. Of course, my absolute favorite voodoo items are CO seeds. I suppose that planting them assures you that your veggies will be organic even if you use (gasp) chemicals on the plants, inasmuch as the seeds were organic. That said, I like my goodies fresh from the garden for one simple reason: THEY TASTE BETTER. Especially my SIL's spinach.
